A family home on a bush block in the Blue Mountains for a photographer, an artist/designer, a playful toddler and a cat named Frida. With a tough exterior shell designed to withstand bushfires, winds and conforming to the strict regulations of the region, the interior contrasts this with earthy softness through natural and handcrafted materials, warm tones, ply joinery, timber detailing, nostalgic objects and textural details. An exercise in building new with soul and taking inspiration from mid-century interiors to craft a warm and contemporary home.
