We are a multi-disciplinary interior design practice born on the cusp of eclectic nostalgia and an innovative approach with an undertone of a rebellious spirit.

Our vision comes from a shared sense of authenticity deeply rooted in memories, places of belonging and imagination. By embracing our Ukrainian and Russian heritage and culture, we transcend political disputes with the spirit of creative collaboration and a drive for a better future. We take an unconventional approach to finding sustainable solutions and create designs that are inspiring, emotive, and bespoke.

Yulia’s approach to design is driven by the desire to tell meaningful stories through creative concepts, fostering a deep emotional connection between people and their built environments. She is passionate about designing spaces that are both functional and imaginative, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and pushing the boundaries of conventional design.

Born in post-Soviet Russia in an environment of constant change, Yulia has developed a natural ability for problem-solving and a curiosity for creative exploration in all aspects of her life. She spent her early childhood in Siberia, surrounded by vast forests and brutalist architecture, which was a striking contrast to Saint Petersburg, where her family moved when she was 6. There, Yulia got immersed in Russia’s rich cultural heritage and developed a true passion for art, fashion, and architecture — fields that she ended up working in from the age of 17 while completing her Bachelor’s Degree.

At 22, Yulia migrated to Sydney, Australia, where she continued her studies, followed by working in tech and renewable energy industries, both locally and internationally. These experiences have shaped her design vision that lies at the intersection of art, innovation and technology.

Her goal as a designer is to create emotionally evocative spaces that invite visitors to think deeper and be inspired by the possibilities of design that go beyond the ordinary.

As an artist and interior designer, Nastia creates transformative spaces that invite play, contemplation, and wonder—environments that reconnect us with our authentic selves. Each project is a narrative, an experience that resonates with those who enter.

Her Ukrainian heritage and childhood in the magical city of Odessa by the Black Sea are the bedrock of her creative journey and the inspiration behind Studio Odessa. The beauty of folk art, the nostalgia of old films, and the dynamic light and forms of the Australian bush all shape her perspective. These influences come together to guide her design vision.

Nastia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture (graduating in 2010 with honours) from UNSW, Sydney, and has also studied interiors and public art at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Her professional experience includes roles as Creative Head of Interiors and Public Arts Projects at Studio Messa in Sydney, and as part of the all-female Mancell Architecture practice in Brussels. She has also taken on casual teaching positions in UNSW’s Interior Architecture program in the past.

Beyond design, Nastia is passionate about creating large-scale, site-specific art installations that challenge our perception of the natural world and our place within it.

For her, design and art are about more than aesthetics—they foster a deeper connection to the spaces we inhabit and the world around us.
